San Diego - June 2022

Short Interlude in San Diego (& yes - I’m like 2 months behind in posting)

Was in Southern California for a few days so went into San Diego for an afternoon.  It was a nice day as usual but I had forgotten how much of a Navy town this was.  Having the naval ships and aircraft carriers in full view as you drive along the water is pretty striking.

Always fun to walk along the water on a nice day

Stopped in a few places in the Gaslamp District

Sevilla

Would definitely recommend this tapas place called Sevilla.  I’m a sucker for the boquerones and any place that serves them gets my business.  Great tapas menu and a nice location.  They have expanded outside seating now which is appropriate for a place like San Diego since is it has perpetually beautiful weather.

The Whiskey House

Of course, we had to stop into “The Whiskey House” for a drink.  It has this plaque signifying that it holds the Guinness World Record for most varieties of whiskey commercially available.  Their whiskey menu is this huge tome that they plop in front of you for your perusal.

However, there were a couple of whiskeys that we asked for that they actually did not have on our visit (or that the bartender couldn’t find anyway).  So, maybe the world record is only for that day?
