North County San Diego

San Diego North County is probably how most people outside of California picture California.

Along these coastal towns, the ocean is especially inviting due to the gentle cliffs that allow for stunning views of the water and there are places that you can actually park for free next to the beach.

It’s comfortably warm here but usually not unbearably hot.  The area exudes a true surf culture vibe.  The lawns are manicured, the palm trees are trimmed, the people are sun-kissed and pretty.  Hell, even the Home Depot is nicer than the one I go to back home. It helps that the area is pretty affluent.

As you move inland, the newer developments are clean and laid out well.  The tradeoff for the cleanliness and newness is that it will lack a certain character that older places tend to have, but they also avoid things like in Greenwich Village where you have to dodge garbage bags on the sidewalks because there are no alleys for dumpsters.

Dogs are everywhere here but are not really allowed on most of the beaches.  People are also generally pretty good with their pups – cleaning up and making sure they are well behaved.  There are a handful of places where you can bring them inside (mostly breweries) but since the weather is so nice here you can mostly just sit outside with them everywhere.
