Origins

So, I’ve been to the Caribbean a handful of times and there are a few sayings that you learn such as “Island Time.” The fact that they don’t always run with Swiss-like precision down there shouldn’t be a surprise. People may go at their own pace and everyone should just chill. If you wanted everything to be on time you should have gone to Tokyo.

Another saying that they have is “Limin’” or “Liming.” Limin’ just means hanging out in a relaxed mood, perhaps with friends and just enjoying life. Very much a good attitude to have if you can. So hence the lime logo and our motto.

(“Limin” was also the name of a now defunct cell phone service provider that they had down in the British Virgin Islands. Perhaps they limed just a bit too much at that business?)

I have been in non-work mode for a little over a month now and decided that writing this site could be a good distraction. I’ve been off-work long enough now that I often forget the day of the week. It’s kind of nice. Every day is like a weekend so hence “eternal weekends.”

I’m a novice at this so one thing that I discovered while creating this site is that a lot of .com URLs are taken. For example: eternalweekend.com was taken - so eternalweekend”s” it is. There were a few other iterations of names before this one but they were taken too and I really didn’t want a stupid number to follow the name to make one available. I was also not going to pay more than $20 for the site name since this is just a hobby. Apparently, you can buy site names for a lot more from people who sit on popular URL names.

My state of mind may change as time goes on but some of my positives of not working right now are mainly about the lower stress. I don’t have to set an alarm, I don’t have to worry about getting to bed to get enough sleep, and maybe the highest stress reliever is not having to deal with people that I don’t want to deal with. I was surprised by how much better life got in respect to the last part.

Since I spend time hanging out with my dog and taking him places, I figured I might as well write about it. The dog friendly suggestions may help some folks.

The “Places” section are locations that I frequent enough to feel comfortable providing details and recommendations.

This blog section will serve as a repository for other places that I may visit but not frequently enough or long enough to state things with authority. The blog will also be a section just to document experiences or random meaningless opinions.
