Z & Y

This place is famous enough that it probably doesn’t need a mention here. That Martin Yan guy was filming an interview here the last time I was here so it’s famous enough and will get the tourist crowd but I still really like the place.

This is one of my lunch places in old SF Chinatown that I like to hit if I am in the area. It has an unassuming store front just a block off Grant and since COVID they have a parklet for dining outside as well which helps during busy hours.

The food is pretty spicy so the heat might not suit everyone. The Szechuan pepper has that numbing heat that builds up slowly and can sneak up on you. I usually get one spicy dish and one non-spicy dish to balance out the meal so I can take a bite of the non-spicy dish if I need a break from the hot dish.
