One of SF’s classics, this place has been here since 1867 so it’s seen some things. The bar has an old world feel - not just the surroundings but with the people that work there as well. You could drop Sam’s into NYC and Chicago and it would not seem out of place.
The area shown above is the bar next to Sam’s Grill which is their proper restaurant. You can get the full food menu at the bar as well.
Great stop for a drink if you are strolling around the Union Square area.
