I have not yet had pastries in Portugal (something that I hope to correct soon) but if they are better than these, then they would need to be pretty magical because these are damn good.

(edit - I have had these in Lisbon since and it’s hard to beat the real deal)

I’m assuming it’s not as pricey in Portugal but I would dare say that these are worth it. These Pastel de Nata’s above are custardy, not too sweet, and thin puff pastry that holds it in place is just the right amount of chewy.

This place is a little treasure in downtown. Like a normal bakery, it doesn’t have long hours so you need to get there earlier in the day.

I think this place started as a pop up in the Adega restaurant on certain days but the pastries were popular enough to justify its own space.
