Chicago Things (Part 1)
Here are a few of the things I learned about Chicago that I did not know before this visit:
Chicago Flag
I didn’t know the city had a flag but here it is
Each star represents a major event in the history of the city (no - sports championships not included)
The last star was added in 1939
Chicago Handshake
Chicago Handshake = an Old Style and a shot of Malort
“What is Malort?” you may ask
It’s this super bitter herbal liqueur made in Chicago
No - it is not good but it is one of those things that it is so disgusting that it becomes endearing (kind of like eating fermented shark in Iceland - I am assuming here as I have not been to Iceland but I do watch a lot of TV so I know things)
$3 Car Wash
Yes - you can get your car washed for $3 in the year 2022 through one of those auto-spinning places in a major American city
Coming from California I’m like WTF - for reals?
Not a great wash but did fine for getting 3,000 miles worth of bugs off my car
Turtle Racing (seriously & it’s awesome)
This will be covered in a later post on Chicago bars
