Black Horse London Pub

If San Francisco had a Golden Gai area like Tokyo - it would be a block full of bars like this one. Just a handful of seats in what is more or less a small hallway, this is a pretty unique bar in the city. The beer is literally served from a bathtub full of ice to keep it cold. I’m amazed a place this small has a bathroom but they squeeze one in there.

It actually seems to get pretty busy on a regular basis thanks to the locals. It is a neighborhood hangout and the smallness promotes a very convivial atmosphere. I played dice with some regulars here a while back and had a great time.

The place has a lot of character. The guy who runs the place is a great guy who is cool to chat with except for the fact that he is a big Notre Dame fan - but hey - nobody is perfect.

It had to become the Black Horse London “Deli” during the pandemic to stay open as bars had to close but restaurants could stay open so apparently you can get a hot dog there now.
